who we are
Janis recognized that there was no bridge for women that are experiencing homelessness, addiction, human trafficking and brokenness of any kind and decided to create a safe and sober environment where women in transition could begin the journey of healing.
We know it today as, “My Sister’s Place.”
Her first home was located at Morrill and Parsons and through this home she was able to provide the necessary links and resources to bring total restoration to over 120 women. As the ministry grew, she utilized rental properties and continued to bring women in off the streets. Her current location houses 4 women at a time and has provided job readiness, 12-step recovery programs, Bible studies, church attendance, and spiritual mentoring to over 200 women in just the last 5 years. As a survivor herself, she has dedicated her life to teaching these women that it is a relationship with Christ that leads to complete and total restoration. This journey is a labor of love and clearly an extension of the love and relationship that God has first provided to her back in 2008.
